All standard QR code formats are automatically recognized: contacts, calendar events, map locations, emails, SMS, phone numbers, Wi-Fi credentials, URLs and plain text.

Yes, Scanner is completely free to use. No ads. No in-app purchases. No registration. No personal data collection. There's no catch—it was built out of frustration with existing QR code scanners, and the goal is to make scanning better for everyone.
You can quickly access Scanner from the Control Center or Lock Screen on iOS or from Quick Settings on Android.
Control Center (iOS)
- Pull down from the top right of the screen to open Control Center
- Tap and hold any empty space to enter edit mode
- Tap Add a Control at the bottom
- Select the "Scan" control (with the icon) under Scanner
Lock Screen (iOS)
- Lock your device to reach the Lock Screen
- Tap and hold any empty space to enter edit mode
- Tap Customize at the bottom
- Select the left or right shortcut slot
- Select the "Scan" control (with the icon) under Scanner
Quick Settings (Android)
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings
- Tap the Edit button (often shown as a pencil icon)
- Drag and drop the "Scan" tile (with the icon) into your active Quick Settings
You can share captured QR codes in one of two ways:
Onscreen Sharing: Display the code directly on the screen for others to scan:
- Navigate to the History screen by tapping the button
- Tap and hold any captured code
- Select "Show code"
Share as Image: Once a QR code is displayed onscreen (using the steps above):
- Tap the button to share
- Select any supported app to share the QR code as a PNG
Unsaved scans are kept for 90 days, then automatically cleared. To keep a QR code permanently, save it from the History screen.
iOS: Captured codes are automatically synced via iCloud and accessible across all your iOS devices.
Android: Captured codes are stored locally and don't sync across devices.
It turns on Discreet Mode, allowing you to scan without drawing attention in public.
